BCI Honors BASS Nation Clubs

South Dakota and Florida Recipients of 2014 Awards

The Berkley Conservation Institute and the Bassmaster Classic walk hand in hand each year to the delight of the grassroots BASS Nation fishing clubs. While not fishing and competing the members of BASS Nations volunteer valuable time to further the sport of fishing, for now and into the future.

BCI, under the direction of conservation expert Jim Martin, created the BCI Conservation and BCI Recruitment/Retention Awards to recognize the top Bass Anglers Sportsman Society (B.A.S.S.) clubs. Winners earn bragging rights plus cash and Berkley product with the awards announced at the Bassmaster Classic, with the full endorsement of B.A.S.S.

The 2014 BCI Conservation winner is South Dakota’s Bon Homme Bass Fishing League. The League raised $123,000 to match state funding and donated time to restore a vital community fishing recreation area. The League will be awarded $2,000 in cash from BCI.

Florida’s North Tampa Bass Club is the recipient of the 2014 BCI Recruitment and Retention Award, along with $1500 in product. North Tampa joined with in the grand opening of a Dick’s Sporting Goods store to raise B.A.S.S. awareness and recruit new members. They also worked with a charity golf event to raise money for “Hope Children’s Home” and introduce the audience to the conservation commitments of B.A.S.S. and the North Tampa Bass Club.

These winners were announced at Media Day the day before Classic competition began.
